A BALANCED MEAL – Score: 8.5/10
For a good decade, Laphroaig has embraced the trend of exotic finishes with its Cairdeas productions.
In 2014, another series was born, the fraternity series, known in Gaelic as “Brodir.” This batch is aged in bourbon casks and finished in port casks.
Produced for the duty-free market, this first batch is a great success. The tasting notes are elegant and indulgent. With prunes, cured meat, and smoked mackerel, it strongly resembles a delightful, complete meal.
Added to this are a few typical notes of marine peat and sweet licorice. A true delight for Laphroaig enthusiasts who will undoubtedly recognize the distillery’s signature profile.
