Après Ardbeg, on parcours quelques kilomètres plus à l’ouest pour retrouver la distillerie Laphroaig. Cela faisait longtemps que je n’avais plus goûté de Laphroaig et l’occasion m’est donnée aujourd’hui de tenter ce Cairdeas produit pour la Feis Ile de 2022.
La série Cairdeas (signifiant “amis” en gaèlique) est une version annuelle par Laphroaig de whisky dédiés aux membres de la confrérie Laphroaig. La distillerie met en évidence les liens étroits entre la distillerie et ses clients, ainsi que la passion partagée pour le whisky de haute qualité.
Dès lors, il me tarde de vérifier cela en dégustant cette version 2022.
L’attaque en bouche est herbeuse, signant là le profil typique de Laphroaig pour ensuite nous déverser un tombereau de terre tourbée et d’écorces amères.
Alors oui, le travail est bien fait mais si vous n’êtes pas prêt à cette amertume, ce whisky n’est pas fait pour vous.

After Ardbeg, we travel a few kilometers further west to find the Laphroaig distillery. It had been a long time since I had tasted Laphroaig and the opportunity was given to me today to try this Cairdeas produced for the Feis Ile of 2022.
The Cairdeas series (meaning “friends” in Gaelic) is an annual release by Laphroaig of whiskies dedicated to members of the Laphroaig Brotherhood. The distillery highlights the close bonds between the distillery and its customers, as well as the shared passion for high-quality whisky.
So I’m eager to verify this by tasting this 2022 version.
The mouth attack is grassy, marking the typical profile of Laphroaig and then pouring a truckload of peaty soil and bitter bark.
So yes, the work is well done but if you’re not ready for that bitterness, this whisky is not for you.
