Mon Lagavulin 1998 étant fini, il me fallait un remplaçant de taille et, si possible, dans les mêmes caractéristiques (tourbe et sherry). En fouillant ma cave, je tombe sur cette bouteille
Un Ledaig 2005 vieilli 9 années dans un fût de sherry de premier remplissage titrant à 56%
Ledaig, pour les plus novices d’entre nous, est la version tourbée de la distillerie Tobermory située sur l’île de Mull.
Embouteillée par Signatory Vintage pour sa belle série “Cask Strength Collection” et ses magnifiques carafes, on peut espérer quelques satisfactions.
On retrouve en bouche le style de Ledaig : un whisky onctueux, huileux, possédant une belle grosse tourbe terreuse et pleine d’herbe humide. Le sherry vient en second plan amené des touches carnées qui se prolongeront dans une finale légèrement poivrée (comme un bon rumsteak au poivre noir).
C’est un whisky puissant, ayant du caractère. A apprécier à sa juste valeur. C’est du costaud.

My Lagavulin 1998 being finished, I needed an equivalent replacement and, if possible, with the same profile (peat and sherry). While searching my cellar, I came across this bottle

Ledaig, for the novice among us, is the peaty version of the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull.
Bottled by Signatory Vintage for its beautiful “Cask Strength Collection” series and its magnificent carafes, we can seek for some satisfaction.
We discover in the palate the style of Ledaig: a smooth, oily whisky, with a beautiful large earthy peat and full of wet grass. The sherry comes in the background, bringing meaty touches that will extend into a slightly peppery finish (like a good rumsteak with black pepper on it).
It is a powerful whisky with character. To be appreciated at its true value. It’s tough.
