GARE A LA MAREE NOIRE – Score: 7/10

english version below

WATCH OUT FOR THE OIL SPILL – Score: 7/10

Following a tasting session, I bought at auction the remaining of the bottle of this peaty version of Arran labelled under the brand “Machrie Moor”

I have already tasted some Arran and it is a distillery that I appreciate. Their whisky is relatively well made and I was rarely disappointed with the malts that was served to me.

I am therefore curious to discover this peaty version aged in quarter cask (which is assumed to make the aromas more concentrated).

And indeed, the aromatic power hits your teeth right from the start with lemon, a few notes of diffused vanilla then a large dose of extra-salty, very iodized peat. The lingering finish will be earthy, a bit bitter.

A punchy whisky that will delight lovers of peat and whisky with temper.
