WHISKY TAGADA – Score: 7,5/10
Après avoir goûté le cousin tourbé Ledaig, nous passons ce soir à la marque phare de la distillerie du même nom, à savoir, Tobermory.
Tobermory est situé sur l’île de Mull à l’ouest des Highlands. Fondée en 1798, la même année que les prestigieuses Highland Park, Blair Athol ou encore la Saint Magdalen aujourd’hui fermée.
C’est dire que cette distillerie a du savoir-faire entre ses murs ayant vu leurs portes plusieurs fois se fermer puis se rouvrir, tel le phoenix.
Nous avons ce soir, une version particulière, un 15 ans d’âge fini en fût de Marsala.
Un nez très sucré, comme si vous le plongiez dans un sac de confiserie. Le palais est plus agressif en attaque, avec une présence éthylique forte mais se calmant rapidement. La menthe laisse place à une douceur agréable, rappelant les fraises tagada, le massepain et une finale très longue sur les amandes, les fruits à coques.
Un whisky atypique, clairement influencé par le Marsala, un peu déroutant par son ambivalence entre la force (on titre à 56,2%) et la douceur, mais pas inintéressant pour autant.

After tasting the peaty cousin Ledaig, this evening we move on to the flagship brand of the distillery, named Tobermory.
Tobermory is located on the Isle of Mull in the western Highlands. Founded in 1798, the same year as the prestigious Highland Park, Blair Athol and Saint Magdalen, which is now closed.
In other words, this distillery has know-how within its walls, having seen their doors several times closed and then reopened, like the phoenix.
Tonight we have a special version, a 15 year old in a Marsala cask.
A very sweet nose, as if you were dipping it in a bag of confectionery. The palate is more harsh on the start, with a strong ethyl presence but cooling down quickly. The mint gives way to a pleasant sweetness, reminiscent of tagada strawberries (famous french candies), marzipan and a very long finish on almonds and hazelnuts.
An atypical whisky, clearly influenced by Marsala, a little confusing by its ambivalence between strength (56.2%) and sweetness, but not uninteresting all that.
