Wolfburn Langskip

Chilled by my recent Wolfburn tasting, I approach this new sampling with a certain trepidation.

Once again, we are dealing with aging in first-fill bourbon casks for this Langskip (which literally means “Long Boat”) bottled in 2018 and boasting a respectable 58.0%.

I slowly draw the liquid between my tense lips and quickly relax as the initial aromas grace my palate.

Fruity notes of pear and honey, dusted with vanilla, project onto my taste buds. The texture is subtly oily.

Unfortunately, the oak notes once again cast a shadow over the scene, bringing their bitter flavors and making the finish less appealing.

There’s still progress to be made on this front for Wolfburn.
