Lors de notre dégustation mensuelle au club “The Friends of Malt” qui se tient à Kraainem, nous avions un thème assez particulier à savoir une série de bouteilles embouteillées en 2022
L’une de ces bouteilles fût le Ardbeg Ardcore complétant une liste de champion de Islay.
Cette version de Ardbeg est distillée, selon l’étiquette, sur base d’orge noir rôti à sec, ce qui devrait apporter du caractère au malt livré.
Et, en effet, du caractère, il en a à revendre. Ca pulse sérieusement avec des notes salées et sur de l’orange amère. La vanille se manifeste également, rapidement rejointe par une saveur plus carnée, où la viande sèchée prend le dessus avec la tourbe.
La finale, extrèmement longue, sera fortement amère rendant cette expérience plutôt désagréable.
Pas la plus grande réussite pour Ardbeg.

During our monthly tasting at “The Friends of Malt” club held in Kraainem, we had a rather particular theme, namely a series of bottles bottled in 2022
One of those bottles was the Ardbeg Ardcore completing a list of Islay champions.
This version of Ardbeg is distilled, according to the label, from dry-roasted black barley, which should bring character to the malt delivered.
And, indeed, character, he has it in spades. It pulsates seriously with salty notes and on bitter orange. Vanilla also appears, quickly joined by a more meaty flavor, where the dried meat takes over with the peat.
The finish, extremely long, will be strongly bitter making this experience rather unpleasant.
Not the greatest achievement for Ardbeg.
