A SUMMER SORBET – Score: 8,5/10
Aultmore has long been a supplier of malt for the blend market, notably for the renowned Dewar’s.
However, since its acquisition by Bacardi in 1998, the distillery has also been producing its own in-house bottled single malt.
For our tasting today, though, we have an independent bottling presented by the already celebrated Alastair Walker, son of another, and his Infrequent Flyers.
A ten-year aging in a Port cask, boasting nearly 60% alcohol, delivers delightful notes of grape, vanilla, and fresh mint. The overall experience is remarkably fresh and pleasantly liqueur-like. The finish is on noble wood with just a hint of bitterness.
An excellent vintage provided by Alastair Walker that will delight aficionados of smooth and rounded whiskies, indeed
