UN LOUPE TOTAL – Score: 1,5/10

Je pense avoir dit dans une publication précédente que BenRiach était capable du meilleur comme du pire. Forcément, lorsque l’on est l’un des pionniers dans l’expérimentation des finish, on prend certains risques.

Cette version est un finish en fût de Rhum brun (donc maximum 1 an sur les 15 ans de vieillissement).

Commençons par le bon côté : une belle onctuosité. Le reste ? Un cauchemar gustatif : alcool beaucoup trop présent, goût chimique entre le red-bull avarié et le white spirit mélangé de laque pour le bois.

Une finale totalement amère collant au palais (rappelez-vous, l’onctuosité) nous laissant une saveur désagréable en bouche.

Une version totalement ratée pour BenRiach. Heureusement, j’avais goûté d’autres versions ce qui ne me bloque pas pour tenter d’autres dégustations de cette distillerie.

L’un des plus mauvais whisky qu’il m’ait été donné de goûter.

I think I said in a previous post that BenRiach is capable of both the best and the worst. Obviously, when you are one of the pioneers in experimenting with finishes, you take certain risks.

This version is a finish in dark rum casks (therefore a maximum of 1 year over the 15 years of aging).

Let’s start with the good side: a nice creaminess. The rest ? A nightmare: alcohol far too present, chemical taste between rotten red bull and white spirit mixed with lacquer for wood.

A totally bitter finish sticky to the palate (remember, the creaminess) leaving us with an unpleasant flavor on the palate.

A totally failed version for BenRiach. Fortunately, I had tasted other versions which does not block me from trying other tastings of this distillery.

One of the worst whisky I have ever tasted.
