Dégustation à distance d’un cadeau de mon banquier – accessoirement membre également du Scotch Malt Whisky Society – offert pour les 11 ans de collaboration avec moi.
Donc une belle référence avec ce Caol Ila de 11 ans d’âge titrant à 57,3% et vieilli dans un fût de bourbon de second remplissage.
Le palais est plutôt huileux, très huileux. On y décèle des notes d’olives vertes (presque l’impression de boire de l’huile d’olive alcoolisée) puis le tanin du chêne amène sa touche boisée avant de tourner sur une belle tourbe terreuse.
La finale est dominée par des notes homéopathiques d’herbes médicinales fort peu plaisante.

What a fine reference with this 11 year old Caol Ila grading 57.3% and aged in a second fill bourbon cask.
The palate is rather oily, very oily. It reveals notes of green olives (almost like drinking alcoholic olive oil) then the oak tannin brings its woody touch before turning to a beautiful earthy peat.
The finish is dominated by very unpleasant homeopathic herbal notes.
