Déjà la troisième version de Highland Park à déguster et cette fois-ci, ce sera une version originale car embouteillée par The Whisky Jury, jeune embouteilleur belge basé dans la petite ville de Malines, entre Bruxelles et Anvers.
Cet Highland Park de 1998 de 21 ans d’âge vieilli en fût de bourbon de second (voire plus) remplissage et titrant à 48,3% se présente comme une belle découverte.
Disons le tout de go, c’est une grosse déception ! Encore une fois, une balance éthylique défavorable, charriant une grosse dose the menthol dans le palais qui persistera du début à la fin. La vanille du bourbon sera fugacement présente mais bien vite écrasée par un goût de mélasse et de fruits secs.
La finale sera chimique, avec des notes de paraffines et de bois sec.
Rien d’emballant dans ce whisky atteignant tout juste la moyenne.

This Highland Park from 1998, 21 years old, aged in bourbon casks of second (or even more) filling and grading 48.3%, is a great discovery.
Let’s say it straight away, this is a big disappointment! Again, an unfavorable ethyl balance, carrying a large dose of menthol into the palate which will persist from start to finish. Bourbon vanilla will be fleetingly present but quickly overwhelmed by a taste of molasses and dried fruits.
The finish will be chemical, with notes of paraffins and dry wood.
