De retour pour affaire dans cette belle ville de Bâle, citées aux croisement de trois pays (Suisse, France, Allemagne), je me rends, comme il se doit, dans l’établissement le plus célèbre de Suisse : Les Trois Rois.

Le bar de cet hôtel est tout simplement charmant, possédant une belle cave à whisky, ce qui n’est évidemment pas pour me déplaire.

Dans cette cave à whisky trône quelques belles quilles dont ce fameux Glendronach embouteillé par le prestigieux embouteilleur écossais “The Prestonfield”.

Il est donc tout naturel que je me fasse servir cette rareté afin de vous en rendre compte, ô fidèles lecteurs.

Tout d’abord, rendons grâce à cette texture tout simplement parfaite, vous caressant le palais délicatement. C’est une pure merveille d’intégration éthylique. Jamais l’alcool ne vous donnera cet effet poivré que l’on retrouve dans bons nombres de nos malts favoris.

Ensuite, viennent les notes de miel et de chocolat au lait typique des sherry casks de glendronach, ces saveurs tourbillonant sur vos papilles, voltigeant de l’une à l’autre tels des papillons pour finir sur une finale extrêmement longue tapissée de noisettes et d’amandes grillées.

Un vrai régal à découvrir si vous passé par Bâle.

A SCOTTISH MASSAGE FOR THE PALATE – Score: 9/10

Back for business in this beautiful city of Basel, standing at the crossroads of three countries (Switzerland, France, Germany), I am going, as it should be, to the most famous establishment in Switzerland: Les Trois Rois.

The bar at this hotel is just lovely, with a stunning whisky cellar, which obviously doesn’t displease me.

In this whisky cellar throne a few fine bottles including this famous Glendronach bottled by the prestigious Scottish bottler “The Prestonfield”.

It is therefore quite natural that I should make use of this rarity in order to realize it to you, o faithful readers.

First, let’s give thanks to this simply perfect texture, gently caressing your palate. It is a pure marvel of ethyl integration. Alcohol will never give you that peppery effect found in many of our favorite malts.

Then come the notes of honey and milk chocolate typical of glendronach sherry casks, these flavors swirling on your taste buds, fluttering from one to another like butterflies to finish on an extremely long finish lined with hazelnuts and ‘roasted almonds.

A real treat to discover if you travel to Basel.
