UN GLENDRO ACCEPTABLE VU LE PRIX – Score: 6/10
Un Glendronach d’entrée de gamme que ce Hielan. Un prix oscillant entre 30€ et 55€ sur le marché, on peut dire que c’est un prix correct pour un whisky d’entrée de gamme.
J’ai eu le plaisir de goûter un autre Glendronach 8 ans – Octarine auparavant et donc, il est intéressant de comparer ces deux opus. Clairement, le Hielan est loin derrière ne supportant pas le poids de la comparaison.
Un Hielan au mélange Bourbon et Sherry ne prend aucun avantage des deux et nous livrent une boisson agressive “ethyliquement” parlant, où la douceur du bourbon n’arrive pas à s’imposer et, au final, rend ce whisky plutôt désagréable. Surtout la finale poivrée qui anesthésie la bouche (heureusement, elle n’est pas bien longue).
Ce qui sauve ce whisky, c’est sa complexité initiale, entre la vanille, la cannelle, le raisin sec.

An entry-level Glendronach that is this Hielan. A price ranging between € 30 and € 55 on the market, we can say that this is a fair price for an entry-level whisky.
I had the pleasure of tasting another Glendronach 8 years old – Octarine before and so it is interesting to compare these two opus. Clearly, the Hielan is far behind andd does not bear the comparison.
A blend of Bourbon and Sherry casks, The Hielan takes no advantage of both and delivers an aggressive drink “ethylically” speaking, where the sweetness of bourbon fails to prevail and, in the end, makes this whisky rather unpleasant. Especially the peppery finish which numbs the mouth (fortunately, it is not very long).
What saves this whisky is its initial complexity, between vanilla, cinnamon, grapefruit.
