Il y a des mariages improbables dans le whisky et cette version 2007 de ce Glenlivet provenant de Signatory Vintage en est la parfaite démonstration.

Je l’ai régulièrement dit, Signatory Vintage comme Gordon & MacPhail’s sont des géants de l’industrie du whisky et, de ce fait, embouteillent tout et n’importe quoi, ce qui rend les achats plutôt aléatoires en terme de qualité.

Ce Glenlivet n’est pas mauvais, soit dit en passant, mais plutôt incongru. En effet, le démarrage est plutôt sympathique, avec des notes fruitées de banane, de fruits confis totalement inattendues pour un whisky vieilli en fût de sherry de premier remplissage. puis soudainement, le sherry nous fracasse le palais avec ses notes de café robusta et la réglisse.

La finale est persistante mais la réglisse n’est vraiment pas ma tasse de thé. Par contre, nul doute que si vous êtes fan de ces saveurs fortes, vous devriez trouver votre compte.

There are unlikely marriages in whisky and this 2007 version of this Glenlivet from Signatory Vintage is the perfect proof.

As I have said regularly, Signatory Vintage as well as Gordon & MacPhail’s are giants in the whisky industry and therefore bottle anything and everything, which makes purchases rather random in terms of quality.

This Glenlivet is not bad, by the way, but rather incongruous. Indeed, the start is rather pleasant, with fruity notes of banana, candied fruit totally unexpected for a whisky aged in a first fill sherry cask. then evoked, the sherry smashes the palate with its notes of robusta coffee and liquorice.

The finish is lingering but the liquorice is really not my cup of tea. On the other hand, there is no doubt that if you are a fan of these strong flavors, you should find what you are looking for.
