Dégôter des bouteilles de Campbeltown autres que de la distillerie Glen Scotia devient un parcours du combattant. Et si en plus vous souhaitez en trouver à bon prix, alors là c’est quasi mission impossible.
J’ai d’ailleurs appris par l’entremise du propriétaire du Col de Cygne, que des recommendations insistantes ont été adressées aux cavistes par l’association des producteurs de Campbeltown (en fait Springbank) de vendre avec des marges raisonnables leurs produits vu l’inflation galopante des prix.
Chance pour moi, j’ai pu obtenir ce Longrow 18 ans et l’ai bien entendu ouverte pour vous faire partager mon avis sur ce produit.
Je suis surpris par la texture plus aqueuse que prévue. Je m’attendais à un whisky huileux et bien il n’en est rien.
Par contre, le reste est fidèle à l’expression Longrow. Un whisky fumé et épicé révélant des notes de fruits rouges et de thé rooibos. L’astringence est un poil rédibitoire mais cela reste un whisky agréable à boire.

Finding Campbeltown bottles other than those from Glen Scotia distillery is like navigating an obstacle course. And if you want to find them at a good price, then it’s almost mission impossible.
I actually learned from the owner of Le Col de Cygne that insistent recommendations have been sent to wine merchants by the Campbeltown Producers Association (in fact, Springbank) to sell their products with reasonable margins due to the soaring inflation of prices.
Luckily for me, I managed to get my hands on this 18-year-old Longrow and, of course, opened it to share my thoughts on this product with you.
I am surprised by the texture, which is more watery than expected. I was anticipating an oily whisky, but it is not the case.
However, the rest is true to the Longrow expression – a smoky and spicy whisky revealing notes of red fruits and rooibos tea. The astringency is a bit off-putting, but overall, it remains a pleasant whisky to drink.
