A la faveur d’une célébration familiale, j’ai ouvert ce Macallan Classic Cut – édition 2020 – afin de me faire une idée sur ce produit en vogue.
Depuis plusieurs années, Macallan est paradoxalement l’une des distilleries les plus recherchées mais également l’une des plus décriées pour la qualité de ces productions par rapport au prix demandé.
Dès lors, j’ai décidé de me faire ma propre idée en ouvrant une bouteille.
La première note, toute première est une touche fugace de caramel tournant très très rapidement vers le céréalier, le malt, le fond de bière.
L’amertume s’empare ensuite de la finale mi-longue.
Je n’imagine pas le nombre de fûts utilisés pour cet assemblage passe-partout, visant à plaire à tout un chacun. On y a mêlé la puissance des fûts de sherry et la fraîcheur des fûts de bourbons. L’un dans l’autre, on obtient un whisky passe partout, pas mal fait, onctueux en bouche mais sans relief ni extravagance.

Taking the opportunity of a family celebration, I opened this Macallan Classic Cut – 2020 edition – to get a feel for this hot product.
For several years now, Macallan has paradoxically been one of the most sought-after distilleries but also one of the most criticized for the quality of these productions compared to their price.
From then on, I decided to make my own mind by opening a bottle.
The very first note is a fleeting touch of caramel turning very very quickly towards the grain, the malt, the beer base.
Bitterness then seized the mid-length final.
I can’t imagine the number of barrels used for this all-purpose blend, designed to please everyone. We have blended the power of sherry casks and the freshness of bourbon casks.
All in all, we get a whisky that suits everyone, quite well done, smooth on the palate but without relief or extravagance.
