UN MORTLACH GOURMAND – Score: 8,5/10

Quatrième quille ouverte lors de notre dégustation dans notre “The Friends of Malt” club bruxellois, chacun chez soi mais en visio-conférence, pour déguster un Mortlach de 15 ans d’âge titrant à 56,1% et embouteillé par un autre whisky club neerlandais nommé “Ben Nevis Club” et basé dans la bucolique ville d’Alkmaar.

Un fût d’ailleurs partagé avec les organisateurs allemands du Whisky & Tobacco days.

Mais revenons à notre Mortlach vieilli en fût de sherry de second remplissage pour apprécier tous le savoir faire de Mortlach dans la conception de whisky en fût de sherry.

Ici, nous avons un splendide malt, onctueux, fruité, entre les effluves de banane, de pomelo, de fraises, pour lentement glissé vers les fruits confis et, inexorablement, vers le poivre et le céréalier dans une finale interminable.

Magnifique travaille pour nos experts de chez Mortlach qui, décidément, ont le savoir faire sur ce genre de vieillissement.

But let’s go back to our Mortlach aged in a Refill sherry cask to appreciate all of Mortlach’s know-how in the conception of sherry cask whisky.

Here, we have a splendid malt, smooth, fruity, between the aromas of banana, pomelo, strawberries, slowly slipping towards candied fruits and, inexorably, towards pepper and cereal in a neverending finish.
