AN OCTOMORE IN GREAT BALANCE – Score: 8/10

Although this is my first tasting note published on an Octomore, it is not the first that I have tasted. The previous ones having rather shocked me the palate, I had a little apprehension about it.

But first, let’s talk about Octomore. This is a range released by the Bruichladdich distillery with the goal of launching a series of more than pronounced peated whisky (we are running on this version at 258 ppm). There are quite a few enthusiasts for these thrills from then on, which economically justified launching this range, which has met with enormous success.

On the palate, a nice surprise, for a 64% grading whisky, the alcohol hardly harsh the palate. It is even rather pleasant in texture, very smooth, lining the mouth.

The peat is very smoky, it invades the mouth and throat instantly. I therefore recommend going there in homeopathic doses to discover all the subtle aromas hiding behind this monstrous peat: honey, applesauce, cinnamon, ginger … It is very complex and well balanced.

A great success for a product that is difficult to handle. Well done to Bruichladdich
